What is store management software for a steel plant?
Store management software for a steel plant records every indent, purchase order, goods receipt and issue, so the store knows what is in stock, on order and where each spare went.
What the store costs a steel plant today
A plant stops because a bearing, a refractory brick or a gearbox coupling was not in the store when maintenance asked. Then it is bought the same day, at whatever price is asked.
The opposite happens too. Nobody trusts the register, so the store keeps extra of everything. Lakhs sit on the shelf in spares bought twice, or for a machine since replaced.
Paper indents, Excel and WhatsApp approvals work until the plant has two or three divisions, a second shift and a thousand-plus spare codes.
Where steel plants improve
Emergency buying of breakdown spares
IndustryPrime keeps min/max levels on critical items and raises the indent before stock hits zero, with a suggested order quantity. See preventing stockouts.
Rates rising without notice
Refractories, electrodes, bearings and lubricants are bought again and again. Every new purchase order is checked against your purchase history before approval, and quotes land in an automatic comparative statement.
Short supply and rejected material
At the GRN step in IndustryPrime, the receipt is matched to the PO, with QC, rejections and the invoice, so you pay only for what came in.
Spares that leave for repair
Motors, pumps, rolls and gearboxes go out to repair shops all the time. Returnable gate passes keep each one on record until it is back.
Stock nobody uses
Dead and slow-moving stock reports, division by division, show where cash is sitting. See clearing dead stock.
Built for multi-division plants
Many steel groups run a sponge iron unit, a power plant and a rolling mill side by side. Each division runs its own store, and management sees all of them. Transfers within a company are recorded on both sides.
Issues to the kiln, furnace, crusher or maintenance are booked by cost centre, so abnormal consumption shows early, not at the audit. You can also set monthly budgets per division.
Easy for your store team
Storekeepers know Excel, not ERP. Screens are text-first and fast on slow plant internet. Unlimited users means every shift in-charge can raise an indent without another licence.
See the customers page, or how it works for TMT and rolling mills.
How it works
Steel & sponge iron, step by step
- 1
Critical spares never hit zero
Min/max on bearings, refractories and electrodes. The indent is raised before the shelf empties.
- 2
Every PO rate checked against your last buy
Spares bought many times a year are compared with your history before approval.
- 3
Receipts matched to the order
Quantity, QC, rejections and invoice together. Short supply is caught at the gate.
- 4
Issue tracked by cost centre
Kiln, furnace, crusher or maintenance. Abnormal consumption is flagged early.

Sees every vendor rate going up or down
“I have been using IndustryPrime for almost a year now, and it has already solved about half of my problems. On the purchase side, I can clearly see vendor rates, whether they are going up or coming down. On the store side, I know which material is being issued and when. With the support of the IndustryPrime team, I now want to start using the remaining features properly. I would recommend it to everyone, especially in the steel sector. Presently, it's working very well for us.”

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Can IndustryPrime handle several plants or divisions of one steel group?
Yes. Each division or plant runs its own store, and management sees stock, purchase and consumption across all of them in one place. Stock can be transferred between stores of the same company, with a record on both sides.
We keep thousands of spare-part codes. Do we have to enter them manually?
No. Your item master, vendors and opening stock come in through an Excel upload. We can also clean your whole item list and find duplicates as a separate service.
How do we control spares that go out for repair?
Use returnable gate passes. Every motor, pump or roll that leaves the plant for repair is recorded against the vendor, and pending returns are visible until they come back.
Can approvals depend on the value of the purchase?
Yes. Amount-based approval routes small consumables to the store head and high-value spares to the director, all from a phone.
Does it connect to our accounts software?
Yes. Each GRN is posted to Tally as a purchase entry, without a second entry. SAP integration is set up for your SAP system and quoted separately, and integration APIs are available.
