What is store management software for a foundry?

Store management software for a foundry records every indent, purchase order, goods receipt and issue of sand, binders, ferro-alloys, refractories and spares, so the store knows what is in stock and which shop used it.

What the store costs a foundry today

A heat waits because the ramming mass ran out, or a ladle cannot be relined in time. Then it is bought the same day from whoever has stock, at their price.

The store also holds many small items: core binders, grinding wheels, shot blast media, pattern repair material. When the register is behind, nobody is sure what is on the shelf, so the same item gets bought twice.

What a foundry store holds

  • Pattern and core shop: pattern timber and resin, core sand, core binders and coatings.
  • Moulding: silica sand, bentonite and other additives, resin and hardener.
  • Melting: ferro-alloys, inoculants, furnace lining and ladle refractories.
  • Fettling and finishing: grinding wheels, cutting discs, shot blast media.
  • Maintenance: bearings, motors, belts and furnace panel spares.

Where foundries improve

Fewer heats waiting on the store

IndustryPrime lists items at their reorder level with a suggested quantity, beside what is already on indent and on order. You raise the indent before the shelf is empty. See preventing stockouts.

Ferro-alloy and refractory rates checked

These are bought again and again from a few vendors. Quotation comparison ranks every quote per item, and each purchase order shows the last approved rate and the difference before approval.

Short supply caught at the GRN

At the GRN, the receipt is matched to the PO. Short supply and rejections are recorded, so the invoice is checked against what actually came in.

Consumption by shop

Each issue is booked to melting, moulding, the core shop or fettling, so you can see which shop uses more sand or binder than usual. See consumption control.

Patterns sent out for repair

Patterns and equipment sent to vendors go out on returnable gate passes and stay on record until they come back.

From manual work to any report, instantly

“I have been using IndustryPrime for the past few months at Bihar Foundry, and it has been a great experience. It's a very good system, and the IndustryPrime team is very cooperative and helpful. Wherever we need support, we discuss it with the IndustryPrime team directly. Earlier, most of our work was manual. Now that we are fully on IndustryPrime, things run on time and much more smoothly. We get any report we need instantly, and we then do our analysis accordingly. That analysis helps us, our management, and our organization keep improving.”

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can we track patterns sent to the pattern maker for repair?

Yes. Patterns, dies and equipment sent to a vendor go out on a returnable gate pass. Pending returns stay listed against that vendor until they come back.

Can we see how much sand, binder and ferro-alloy each shop uses?

Yes. Set up melting, moulding, core shop and fettling as cost centres. Every issue is booked to one, and the consumption reports show usage shop by shop.

We buy ferro-alloys and refractories from the same few vendors. How do we know a rate is fair?

Every quote is ranked L1, L2, L3 per item, and each PO line shows the last approved rate and the difference before it is approved.

Is it too big a system for a single-unit foundry?

No. There is one plan with every feature and unlimited users. Items, vendors and opening stock come in through an Excel upload, and plants go live in 14 days.
